This summer, 350 kids were immersed in sports, God’s Love, and the magic of
“Wildwood Forest” in our annual VBS camp. Each day would begin with fun worship in the
creatively constructed forest, followed by a message on environmental responsibility and God’s
incredible power. From there, the children were taken to one of six sports. (The younger set
had their own program in Team 45). Between athletics, bible stories, and the much anticipated
snacks, the kids were given a fun time and opportunities to grow as athletes, but more
importantly, as a young persons in Christ.
As an instructor for Volleyball, it was a really rewarding experience. The kids were really
sweet and hardworking, but could always put a smile on your face. When we read them the
daily lesson, I was amazed by how much they already understood about God’s love for us. At
the end of the week, they were all given bibles and the opportunity to accept Jesus as their
personal Savior. It was really encouraging to see their eagerness as well as their excitement at
the gift they had received. This week was a great experience for the kids and for those of us
who were blessed to share the experience with them. I know that the rest of the staff and myself
can’t wait for next year!
